My parents had an ‘85 or ‘86 4WD SR5 wagon that basically looked exactly the same. I still remember ordering the car with my dad looking through the brochure and picking the color, seat cloth pattern, etc. Back when you just picked the options you wanted and had the car built for ya!

EDIT> I should mention however that within a few years the body of the car was basically rusted to OBLIVION..... I mean, it was really bad. Last year at our annual Pike’s Peak trip I saw one in Colorado Springs that was rust free and it stopped me right in my tracks, I’d never seen one without rust!

I’ve been stupid busy recently and just saw this. Yay!

Also just heard again from the guy selling the one I mentioned earlier. If he’s scamming me, it’s the most intricate, time consuming scam ever. He took it to a mechanic, changed the oil for me, put new wiper blades on, and had me speak to the mechanic. Bushings are worn, no other bad news. Obviously not the same as me taking it in somewhere but it makes a theoretical road trip home with the car a lot more promising!

Ridden in one, driven other similarly slow older vehicles. I mean, I know what I’m expecting. Just want an extra vehicle to do what my Fiat can’t and I’ve always loved the idea of these.
